ExpressionEngine is a robust content management system that is often viewed as more scalable than WordPress. They each have different use case applications.  Large websites like iLounge.com and Change.gov run on Expression Engine software.  I really enjoy the developer community around Expression Engine who are very responsive to help you learn how to build websites using the CMS system
